While You Were Away. . . . . (May 30-June 1)
Mom and I had the honor of keeping Catherine while Johnna, Aaron & Claire were at the hospital. We had our hands full but we had a lot of fun. Here is a photo of Mom and Claire's fan club. Notice the snacks. It is always important to have snacks. We also took a bag of books for hospital entertainment. We definitely know our way to the hospital......! Believe it or not, but Mom and I took 4 kids to McDonald's & Cracker Barrel for meals----several high chairs and boosters. And we even did a big shopping trip to Walmart with the kiddos---They were awesome!! We had a lot of stares (Some thought that John David and Catherine were twins--and that I was crazy for having so many kids so close together.) We had a great time!!
We had lots of fun playing outside. Here, Grandma is busy keeping everyone swinging. "More, Grandma!" "Higher, Grandma!"
Grandma got to read lots of books!!

Happy Birthday, Claire! (May 30, 2008)
We were so excited to help welcome Claire Elizabeth on May 30th. Mom & I (and my 3 kids) drove down to Alabama as soon as we found out that Johnna was in labor. Claire was born very early on May 30th so we decided to go and visit later that morning with Big Sister Catherine. Catherine was so sweet and seemed very excited to hold Claire. In fact one of the first things that Catherine did was to sing "Jesus Loves Me" to her new sister.
Grandma was pretty excited to hold her 2 newest granddaughers--Claire Elizabeth & Lucy Grace (only 2 months apart in age.)
John David and Luke were also eager to welcome Claire.

Playing in the Rain (May 26, 2008)
What an expression! Anyone that knows John David is aware of his priceless facial expressions. While I was inside taking photos of my baby doll Lucy. Daddy, Luke & John David were outside. It began to rain so I went outside to check on everyone and this is what I found.

A Lucy Photo Shoot (May 26, 2008)
I decided to dress Lucy up in this adorable dress that was given to her by a dear friend. I was worried that this might be the last time that she could wear this dress due to her rapid growth. So of course I snapped photos like a crazy mama.....It is so hard not to take photos of a smiling baby!!!! She is such a good sport!

Lucy is 2 months old (May 25, 2008)
Believe it or not, Lucy still enjoys being swaddled at 2 months. She happily goes down for her naps. I am having trouble finding blankets large enough to swaddle her in. Yes, you do see a blue blanket....yes it belonged to the boys....yes, I think she looks pretty in blue, too.

Memorial Day Weekend (May 24, 2008)
We had planned to celebrate Luke & John David's birthday today with a party. However, the boys had really bad colds and a cough so we decided to postpone the party. Al's family had already made special plans to take off work, etc. So, they all came up from Mississippi and Tennessee for the day. We decided to celebrate not only Luke & John David's birthdays but also Bayley, Taylor & Cameron who all have birthdays in April, May & June. There is a slide show with lots of photos of this fun day in a later post. The best part of the day was meeting Cameron for the first time. The boys had a big time playing together!!

Luke is Four (May 18, 2008)
"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday dear Luke. Happy Birthday to you!!"
What is it about the birthday song that makes one beam with such happiness??? Luke was so excited to celebrate his birthday. He was so delighted that there was such a special day set aside to celebrate him. And that is exactly what we did. We celebrated. We opened gifts, blew out our candles (as many times as we wanted), ate yummy birthday cake, etc. We enjoyed being together as a family.
Al and I cannot believe that it has already been 4 years since we welcomed this sweet boy into the world. I get all teary eyed just thinking about how much I love this precious gift from God. May I never forget how blessed that I am that God would choose me to be Luke's mommy. I am truly humbled and amazed at how much He has taught me through my little boy.
