RUB A DUB DUB....LUCY's Gets in the TUB!! (April 16)

Lucy seems to enjoy taking a bath. She doesn't make a noise.

Her brothers enjoyed helping me give her a bath.

There's nothing much cuter than a baby wrapped up in a hooded towel!! Notice the Duck slippers. The boys hardly wore them because I never could get them on their feet very easily. Thankfully, Lucy has slender feet and fit easily into the slippers!!

After getting dressed, Lucy enjoyed some tummy time. I didn't get the camera in time to capture her lifting up her head. She doesn't seem to mind being on her tummy.

Tuesday Night Fun (April 15)

As most of you, it has been tradition in our family to go to Grandmother's house for Tuesday night supper for over twenty years (WOW--that makes me feel really old!!). This was Lucy's first opportunity to go to Tuesday night Supper and can you belive it--I didn't even take her photo!!! What was I thinking. She did wonderful. She was quiet and let all of us eat our meal without making a peep!!
After supper, Grandmother let's the boys play with some of her toys (that have now been enjoyed by three generations!!). This week, Grandmother got out some books that she read to her little boys. Tonight she read them to her Great-Grandson Luke.....that's pretty special!!

Granddaddy got down in the floor to help clean up the toys and Luke took advantage of the opportunity to get on Granddaddy's back!! Luke's "horse" led him all the way through the kitchen. I bet that "horse's" knees were sore the next day!!

Lucy's 3 weeks old! (April 15)

I know that Lucy is only 3 weeks old and according to how old I hope for her to someday be, it doesn't seem very old. Yet, it already seems so old!!! That might not make sense unless you are sleep deprived :). The nights sometimes can seem so long (when you wake up every two hours) yet the weeks go by so fast. Lucy has brought our family so much joy in the last three weeks. We thank God for the blessing she has already been to our family!! We love you, Lucy!!

Luke is so sweet. After three weeks, he is still in awe of the fact that we have a baby girl (I think we all are). Anyway, at least once a day, Luke comes up to Lucy and I and say with much expression and with emphasis on girl, "Mommy, we have a baby girl!!"

I haven't been brave enough to venture out during the day yet (except to my mom's house less than a mile away) as a Mommy with her three kids. I am very content being at home. In fact, the day flies by because during Lucy's 3 hour cycle (Up for 1 1/2 hours and then sleeping for 1 1/2 hours and then REPEAT), the boys and I try to do all that we can in that 1 1/2 hours that she is asleep (eat lunch, play outside, read and get down for their naps, etc.) And then I try to find time to BLOG among all the other things that really need doing but never quite get marked off the list. Oh well....I will have plenty of time to do all of that later. I am trying to soak up all of the NOW that I can!!

Oatmeal Brothers (April 14)

I had to document this "daily" breakfast request since a year from now I may forget or the boys may have changed their interests. Every morning when I ask the boys what they want for breakfast, Luke replies "Oatmeal and RayRays." (John David wants to say it and readily moves his mouth and smiles when I mention Oatmeal and Raisins.) The boys LOVE oatmeal. I have had to up the number of servings throughout the winter because they were gobbling it up and wanting more. Our boys are excellent breakfast eaters!!! We have eaten a lot of Oatmeal and Turkey Bacon during these cold months. Be sure to double click on John David's photo and see all of the oatmeal on his chin. His ablity to eat with a spoon has definitely improved. He can't shovel in the oatmeal fast enough!!

Lucy goes to church! (April 13)

Today Mommy & Lucy actually went to the 8:15 service at church!! Believe it or not all 5 of us arrived at church altogether by 7:45 a.m.!!! We were quite impressed with ourselves!! Lucy and I had to leave just before the sermon becuase she woke up hungry. Oh well. Maybe next week we can try to make it through the entire service!! Uncle Terry & Aunt Stephanie took care of Lucy during Sunday School so Mommy could do some things. Lucy slept through the entire second service at church while Daddy & Mommy were in Future Generation. Fortunately, her cousin Abby has let her borrow some of her newborn outfits which are actually long sleeve. All of the clothes that Lucy has received are short sleeve (or no sleeve) and it was way too cold outside to wear any of her new clothes----maybe next week it will be warmer!!

Let's Go to the Movies! (April 12)

All 5 of us went to the movies on Saturday to see Dr. Seuss' "Horton Hears A Who!" It was really good and everyone enjoyed it. Lucy did great.....she basically slept the whole time. John David and Luke were glued to the big screen while eating their popcorn.

An Early Birthday Surprise! (April 12)

We knew that we wanted to get Luke a bike for his birthday. Due to some upcoming events, we decided to go ahead and surprise him with it early. He was thrilled!!

Of course, we didn't want to leave out John David. He inherited the full rights to the tricycle!!

Because it was so cold outside, we went to the FLC at church and let the boys pedal around.

Luke thought he was BIG STUFF riding around on his new bike!!!

John David has not quite mastered the art of pedaling yet so we also took the fire truck ride-on toy. I love this photo with the two boys "riding" together. Luke looks so old on a bike!!!!

Just Lucy and Me (April 11)

Today my dear friend Jennifer offered to have the boys over to her house to play so that Lucy and I could have some time together. Luke & John David readily went to play with Ashley & Hannah. Thank you so much, Jen for giving me and Lucy such quality time together!!! :)

Although it was great being by myself (since Lucy slept most of the morning), I missed the extra noise in the house, I mean boys. When they arrived home that afternoon with Al, the boys actually ran inside and were excited to see me. That was fun. Not that they are not usually excited to see me but usually we are always together. Usually it is Al that we all run to the door to welcome home. So it was fun getting such big hugs from my big boys!!

Thanks again, Jen!!

The "I Love Lucy" tour stops in Memphis (April 9)

On Wednesday morning, we went to visit Al's Grandma (Lucy's Great-Grandmother) Helen who lives in Bartlett. Grandma couldn't wait to hold her newest grandbaby!!

Grandma Helen's Grandmother was named Lucy. And Grandma Lucy's sister's name was Grace. So the name Lucy Grace lives on!!

Here are the other kids visiting Grandma Helen's house--Luke, Hunter, Aiden, John David. This is a rare moment when we were able to get them to slow down to take their photo. As you can see we needed more girls in the family.....Abby and Lucy will be very thankful for each other!!

Isn't this sweet--Two little ones rolling a ball back and forth. Believe it or not, but this lasted longer than we all expected!!

Daddo Tom rushed in to hold his newest granddaughter! Believe it or not but he beat Mamaw Jen inside and got his hands on her first!!

But it didn't take long for Lucy to meet her Mamaw. Mamaw doesn't look thrilled at all does she!? LOL! Let's just say that Mamaw held on to her longer than Daddo!
Alora Grace holding Lucy Grace!!

Al's cousin Candice, Alora & Aiden with Lucy!

Al's Aunt Millie and her grandson Hunter

Sorry, Aunt Millie--I did not get a photo of you holding Lucy. We'll have to try again!!

Al's Great Aunt Joy with Lucy

Grandma Helen with one of her grandsons, AL and 4 of her great grandchildren. It was so nice spending the day with Grandma Helen (and everyone else that could stop by).

Lucy was tired after her quick trip to the Memphis area. Sometimes we are able to make the trip without stopping. However, with a baby that eats every three hours....trips become longer....well let's just say the trips become more relaxed. On the way down, we made it to Jackson before having to stop so we all ate lunch at Chick-Fil-A. And on the way back we stopped in Jackson again for Lucy to eat. Al and John David enjoyed their 45 minute stop at Target. Luke got to finish his nap in the car while Lucy ate a mid afternoon meal. All in all--Lucy traveled very well (as well as can be expected by a two week old baby). She slept well in the car except when it was time to eat!! We made it back to Kentucky in time for Wednesday night church. Al and I had the two and three year olds so we just kept Lucy with us. She slept just about the whole time. I changed her diaper and her cord stump fell off. So another milestone for Lucy!!

Lucy Meets her Aunt JuJu and Uncle Jonny! (April 8)

Today Lucy took her first road trip. We traveled to Memphis to visit family. Our first stop on the "I Love Lucy" tour was at Westminster Academy to meet Uncle Jonny & Aunt Ju Ju. Al, Jonny & Andrew went to a Memphis Grizzlies game vs. the Phoenix Suns and the rest of us got to enjoy supper at Aunt Ju Ju's house in Slayden, Mississippi.
Lucy was very happy to meet her Aunt Ju Ju!
Keri, Lizzie, Anna & Sara Kate also enjoyed meeting Lucy!!

I had to include this sweet picture of John David. I just love the look on his face as he proudly holds his little sister Lucy Grace!!

Uncle Jonny & Daddy made it home later that evening so at about midnight we were able to get this photo of Lucy with her Aunt Ju Ju and Uncle Jonny!!!

A Day At Home (April 7)

Al and I took Lucy to the doctor for her two week check-up today. She had gained weight--7lb. 12 oz. and is now 21 inches long. We didn't have to get her bilirubin checked today and she does not have thrush (I don't think she really ever did!). Dr. Gina said that she is a beautiful healthy baby girl!!

We celebrated Lucy's good report by playing outside. The boys enjoyed playing wth the bubble machine!!

It's amazing how exciting baby toys are when you get them out for the first time (after being put away for 2 years). Lucy's brothers were as excited as she was with the Winnie the Pooh play mat.

Thankfully, the new hasn't worn off and everyone still loves Lucy and can't wait for their turn to hold her!!

Lucy's Due Date!! (April 6)

Today Lucy is 12 days old. Today is also her original birth due date. Once again, another early Chandler baby. We are so glad that we didn't have to wait 12 more days to meet Lucy Grace!! She is a wonderful baby and we can't get enough of her!!!

Gotta Burp! (Apirl 5)

Today Luke surprised my Mom and I while he was holding Lucy. While he was holding her, Lucy began to hiccup. As soon as he heard the hiccups, Luke immediately put Lucy up on his chest and very seriously said, "Gotta burp!" It was so cute that we couldn't help but chuckle although we quickly reminded him to be very careful with her.

Baby Shower for Lucy (April 4)

Today we celebrated Lucy at the Happy House in Mayfied. My dear friend Stephanie hosted a shower for Lucy and me with friends from church. My mom and sister Joann were able to come, too.
Lucy was blessed with a very pink and girly wardrobe including this hat.
Here is one of many dresses that Lucy will be prancing around in as soon as the weather warms up!!
Thank you, Aunt Stephanie for making our day so special!!
